Why choose edibles?
Why Choose Edibles?
Taste: Edibles are a great way to ingest the desired amount of Hemp derived CBD. Pills, liquids, and tinctures often have an undesirable taste or tingle when ingested. Convincing children (and many adults) to eat something that tastes bad can be extremely challenging. Tasty edible products can mask the bad taste of Hemp oils and some edible products use potent tasteless and odorless CBD isolate. Edible products are the obvious choice for children and adults who can not handle strong tastes or odors.
While we may all prefer the benefits of edibles, patients suffering from Crohn’s Disease, IBS, and other gastrointestinal disorders find this method extremely beneficial. This is because these problems occur in the GI tract, precisely where edibles distribute useful active and inactive CBD at the root of the problem. When products go through the digestive tract and are metabolized by the liver, the effects last longer as well.
When selecting a CBD product, it is very important to pay attention to the potency of the product. Many oils and tinctures include small amounts of Hemp or CBD in carrier oils like Olive Oil or Coconut Oil. The exact potency of these products can be tough to determine. Edible products often include a serving size and make it clear how much oil or CBD is infused into each serving. Look for pure CBD infused into edible products. 10 to 15mg of active CBD per serving is a good starting point for new users.
Any time you choose something to put into your body, an organic GMO free product is preferable and for some of us, a company who uses sustainable practices and buys from local and sustainable businesses is a high priority. This varies among edible producers as widely as it varies on your grocer’s shelves. When purchasing infused products, look for edibles that are lab tested, use quality ingredients, and have proper labels on the product’s packaging (including serving size). Use the CBD content numbers on the packaging as a rough guideline to determine your preferred serving.
Edible Hemp derived CBD is safe and will not cause any long-term toxicity. However, you may want to note that although edibles companies are supposed to operate out of commercial kitchens following all health and safety regulations, there is no entity currently in place to assure compliance with these types of regulations. Unfortunately, there is no regulation system in place to oversee edible or infused products production. Most states require nothing more than a commercial cooking license to sell edible products. It is best to insure that your chosen edible is made in a commercial kitchen.
The Jelly Shamans products are made in our commercial kitchen with organic ingredients and 100 mg of tasteless and odorless CBD in each jar. We buy local whenever possible and employ sustainable practices. Our CBD is lab tested for purity before purchase and we conduct random tests on our products for the same. With the blessing of shamans, our jams, jellies, and honey have extra magic. We believe that makes them more potent and effective longer than other edibles or Hemp products.
